At this point in my life, I’m really interested in understanding what it takes to transform and heal our bodies, on a physical, nutritional, emotional, psychological and spiritual level. There has been much learning in the process, and much learning to come, so I’ve started this blog to track what I’ve learned, as well as my thoughts and inquiries.
My goal is to post at least twice a week. I hope you enjoy it! And of course, I welcome any feedback, comments, thoughts and questions!
In the spirit of health and healing,

My history with exercise:
Exercise became a main part of my life when I was 21; I had been active growing up, but I distinctly remember the moment exercise became a conscious choice, rather than just an afterschool activity.
I had been feeling out of sorts, tired, caught in a cycle of binge eating and I couldn’t figure out how to shake the feeling. I remember deciding to go for a run because I simply didn’t know what else to do. I remember feeling the cloud lift as I ran. I remember feeling light, energized, happy.
I remember deciding to go for a run the next day, and the day after that.
Soon, I was running everyday; not because I wanted to loose weight, or get fit, but simply because it felt good.
Soon my body started to change. People started noticing, I felt more confident, I was smiling a lot. I can’t say conscious effort went into it, and that felt like the most amazing thing of all; I had the body I always wanted, that I had strove for years to get with crash diets, laxatives and vomiting, but now, here it was, simply through doing something that I loved to do!
And For me, that has become the #1 diet/exercise secret: Find a physical activity that you love to do, and do it! When we love something, we will do it, with joy and ease! The rest will follow…
What I believe intuitively:
–Exercise is a pathway to joy and fulfillment in our everyday lives.
–Exercise can be a meditation, a means to connect deeply with our bodies, our breath, and our own intrinsic understanding of spirituality.
– We need each other! Xiao Hong kicks my butt every time I go to acrobatics class, I wouldn’t work half as hard if he wasn’t there! And if it’s the right time, I kick my clients’ butts at the gym. There’s something very powerful about having another person push us to our greatest limits.
What I have been taught, and have now come to believe: Thank you to all of my teachers, And a big, big extension of gratitude to Jator, whose mentorship has already expanded my knowledge tenfold!
We are what we eat. Not figuratively, literally. As Jator says, “That Banana you eat will become your eye ball.” What we put in our bodies literally becomes our cells, our brain, our hormones, our heart…Eat well, so you yourself can be well.
Eat of the Earth, a message that came strongly in New Mexico. Eat of the Earth, because when we don’t, we take in the ego of the food that is not of the earth. For example, the ego of non-organic foods is pesticides, which is associated with mass production and greed. The ego of ‘diet’ food is looking good. Ultimately, none of these foods will truly nourish us.
Diets Don’t Work. UCLA did a study that found that 95% of diets fail, and on average, people end up gaining 10 pounds more than people who don’t diet. On a deeper level, diets don’t work because each of our bodies are unique and require different food combinations to nourish them. Instead of approaching food from a place of self-deprecation and deprival, let us learn to listen to our bodies and understand we truly need for our greatest nourishment.
There feels like there’s much more to say, but Spin Class is waiting to be taught! This feels exciting, this process of making sense of thoughts through the written word.
Thank you for reading, may this day be one of nourishment and rejuvenation!
